Learning, I hope I am

Well this is my second try at this, so forgive me if I am just rambling. Do not have a lot of time today as I do have to teach the Bible class of mine early tonight. At present we are studying the book of Job, with Psalms being next. Do not know how many students I will have tonight as it is snowing lightly and the prediction is only for an inch tonight, but the last time they said 1 to 3 inches and we got a foot. So I believe some will not show up.
I have been learning the hard way on ways to sell my first book, and expect to continue learning every day, but at my age all knowledge I put into the old brain takes forever to to find the right spot to settle down in and takes me forever to find it and to use it.
So I am putting the word out, "If You Can Help" please blog me and I will appreciate it.
I know I made mistakes in the book and the publisher did not catch them, as I always put the wrong there, their. It's a good thing their is spell check as I am the worst at spelling. Both my daughters are teachers and I always get yelled at (they take after their mother).
The cover design was my idea and they had their artist do the drawing, except he reversed it and made the flame big and small crosses, but it will do and I am proud of it as it came out okay.
As I mentioned, when you self publish it can cost you a bundle but it does get your big toe into some doors. I am hoping that the next book, different publisher will be better but I am looking at ways to push it on the market. Any ideas would be appreciated.

senior, 75, with a new game-"Author"

All this is new to me, so I hope you take that into account when you read this, or anything I may write.
I spent a lot of time in hospitals for two and a half years and while I was recuperating I wanted to do something for God and was led to write my first book with the title of "Does Your Flame Flicker?" by Grampa Ed. (Yes, it's misspelled on purpose) I tried many approaches and ended up writing four small books which I then incorporated into one book. I tried finding a publisher but just could not do so. Then I had the idea to self publish, which cost me an arm and leg. I soon found out that a lot of these companies only do what is the minimal of advertising. Live and learn, which I know a lot of others have found out.
This is a Christian book covering many small items pertaining to reading and studying the Bible along with jokes and stories to keep people from being bored. It also covers items that the author has seen and heard in his time on earth. It is designed to get people to read the Bible to strengthen their faith and become better Christians and to find God and his only begotten son, Jesus Christ.
Since this book was published I have written another book that will be published in 2010 and at the moment I am trying to find a buyer for a manuscript for a play or movie through another firm. I also am working on another book and doing research on another.
The book, "Does Your Flame Flicker?" can be found on Amazon.com--Borders books--and Dorrancebookstore.com. I also have found it on a couple of independent sellers on the web.
All of my profit goes to three Christian charities to feed hungry children in the world, so if you are interested buy it, not for me, but to feed the children.----------Thanks
